806. Zwiebelkuchen
I’m off to Germany in less than two days, so it only seemed appropriate for me to post a German food before I go!
Zwiebelkuchen is an onion tart. It has a shortcrust pastry base, filled with lots and lots of softened onions, eggs, a little bacon, and caraway seeds, so it’s a little like a quiche. Cooking the onions really slowly makes the tart lovely and sweet.
