the-starcow asked: Hi! What a lovely blog! I stumbled across peoples reactions to surströmming here, so I felt it was my duty as a Swede to stand up and say that I LOVE surströmming! But it does smell rank, so make sure to open the can in a bucket of water, outside. Although the smell is misleading! And be sure to eat it the traditional way, on swedish thinbread with boiled almond potatoes, chopped onions and sour cream. Some include tomato and dill as well. Yum!
I’m glad to hear that at least someone likes it! Reassures me that I might enjoy it after all. I find the idea of a food that smells awful but tastes good quite strange, but I shall try to keep an open mind!
